Peri Peri style sauces and marinades produced under the brand, African Volcano, have been developed by award-winning Master Chef of Great Britain, and expatriate Capetonian, Grant Hawthorne.
They have recently been awarded Gold
and double gold for their Peri Peri Marinade in the Great Taste Awards 2012.
The recipe he learned came from a Mozambique-born lady who fled the revolution in Mozambique and eventually made her way to Cape Town. It is a recipe that he has modified and refined since the mid 1990’s and has been a work in progress. A labour of love, if you must.
The sauces and marinades have been developed to give you a flavour of Southern Africa and the heat that it is renowned for.
Hence the tagline on the bottles: Feel the African heat..
